As a supplier of pet food, quality is paramount. It is therefore more than annoying when it turns out that a considerable batch of pet food did not meet the usual standard. Together with Milgro, a sustainable processing of the residual stream was sought, as adapting it to the desired specifications proved impossible.
Processing of pet food
Sustainable processing of products can be challenging. Only a few companies in the Netherlands specialize in processing large quantities of canned pet food. Milgro has a large network of partners with different areas of expertise.
We approached a certified company to process the pet food. The packaging (cans) was first separated from the food; this was the first challenge. The cans underwent a recycling process. In addition, the animal food was processed responsibly, which ensured efficient handling.
Preventing risks
When processing products, it is important to do so responsibly to avoid risks. This also applies to animal by-products, where health and environmental risks play a role.
