Huuskes even more sustainable with Milgro

Huuskes, a total supplier of fresh meals and meal components, has been working with Milgro since 1 January 2017 to reduce waste in the production process and to make waste management more sustainable. This approach is being implemented at all Huuskes locations (Enschede, Nijkerk, Apeldoorn, Winschoten and Beuningen). The waste management process is being organized more efficiently and the detailed insight into the waste streams allows Huuskes to steer towards better sustainability performance.

Sustainability has become a tradition for the growing family business. Corporate Social Responsibility has been part of the strategy for years. In mid-2016, Huuskes achieved level 3 of the CSR performance ladder and the goal for 2017 is to make the policy even more sustainable. “The plans for the collaboration with Milgro have been discussed internally and everyone is enthusiastic. Expectations are high and we are motivated to implement improvements, ”said Edwin van der Wal, Head of Quality at Huuskes. “Our sustainability strategy for 2017 is challenging. We want to reduce waste in our production and are very confident in the solution that Milgro offers. Making our waste management more efficient will also help us to achieve the set goals. ”

“Huuskes shows that a sustainable strategy can go well with growth,” says Alex van Kuilenburg, Consultant Resource Management at Milgro. Huuskes has experienced significant growth in recent years, but remains aware of the impact on the environment. Continuous development is the goal and they embrace innovative initiatives, not only in product development, but also by professionally tackling waste in production. We look forward to a long-term collaboration in which we continue to challenge each other.”
