A day in the life of Maaike Lesuis: Content Marketer B2B at Milgro

From managing the content calendar and social media channels to writing blogs, web copy, news releases and organizing a podcast, the role of Content Marketer B2B at Milgro is multifaceted. Today I take you through my Monday. Thanks for reading along.

The start of a new week

Milgro offers the opportunity to work hybrid- from our office in Rotterdam, but also from home. Today the latter is the case: I open my laptop and kick off the week.

In terms of content, a variety of publications are planned this week. Therefore, I start the Monday morning with overview. I check whether all content - from blog to LinkedIn post - is correct in terms of content, well aligned with our strategy and scheduled at the right time.

Then I look back at the week before. Which posts performed well? Which ones performed less well? And what does that say about what appeals to our target audience? That very insight is important for content creation.

Cooperation within the team

Then it's time for the joint weekly start with the marketing team. There are four of us: the Marketing Manager, Digital Marketer, Work-Student-who does research in addition to her studies-and me.

We start with a brief weekend update, then move on to last week's numbers, this week's priorities and progress on ongoing projects. This way, we start as a team with focus and overview.

You don't create content alone

After the team meeting, I discuss with the Digital Marketer which current events, formats and themes are relevant for our target group in the Netherlands and Belgium. From my role I make sure that these are in line with the main thread of our content strategy.

Briefing for the podcast

Later in the morning I give the briefing for the second episode of our podcast Grondstof tot Nadenken. In a Teams meeting, I introduce our external guest and host to the program. I explain the theme, the chosen angle and the practicalities of recording so that everyone is well prepared at the table. Are you already subscribed to our Spotify channel? There will be a new episode online soon!

From briefing to content

After lunch, I dive into producing new content. Today happens to be this blog. But writing doesn't just start with some typing. I start with a review of the briefing: what do we want to achieve? Who is themaaike target audience and how do we make sure the blog is easily findable in Google? Because while AI offers many benefits, it also affects how well our content is found - and thus how visible we are to our target audience.

Sometimes writing a blog requires extra preparation: an interview with a colleague, depth on a topic or input from our working student. Only when everything is clear does the writing really begin. At the end of the day, I read through the blog with a critical eye.

''No day is the same''

Tomorrow my workday will probably already look completely different - we are planning to record a video for our socials and my colleague will give an online webinar. That requires the necessary post-production, as well as setting up and sending out the corresponding workflow. It is this diversity that makes it so much fun!

Would you like to join our marketing team? You can! We are looking for a Product Marketer and a SEA Marketer. Check out our vacancies and maybe we'll see each other soon!
