The European Green Deal (EGD) is a pioneering European Union action plan designed to become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050, decoupling economic growth from resource use. The EGD includes a wide range of initiatives intended to address environmental challenges while stimulating economic growth.
Surrounding this component the PPWR, which stands for Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, are several concepts and legislation that together form the foundation for this green transition. We explore these concepts further in the list below.
Deposit and Return Systems (DRS)
Deposit systems to collect bottles and cans for recycling.
Design for Recycling (D4R)
Core principle stating that packaging must be designed to be effectively recyclable in practice.
