Rotterdam, September 2 2025- Milgro announces today that it has been officially certified as a B Corporation. With this, Milgro joins a growing group of companies that are taking a different approach to business by pursuing not only profit, but also social value. Milgro has successfully completed the certification process of B Lab, the nonprofit organization behind the B Corp Certification, meeting rigorous social and environmental standards that demonstrate the company's commitment to goals beyond profit.
The B Corp Certification assesses the entire business operation and covers five key impact areas: governance, employees, community, environment and customers. The certification process is thorough: companies must achieve a minimum score of 80 (out of a maximum 200) as well as prove that they operate in a socially and environmentally responsible manner, for example in the areas of energy use waste and water management, human resources management, diversity and transparency. Milgro achieved a score of 95.3 points. To complete the certification process, companies must document the impact of their decisions on all their stakeholders in their statutory documents. A B Corp certification is not a one-time thing, as every three years you are assessed for meeting the (increasingly high) standards for recertification.
The process
During the certification process, Milgro mainly described what we do and how we do it. What we take for granted within our organization was laid down in policy and reaffirmed. The process gave us the insight that we operate responsibly as an organization - and that we can be proud of that.
At Milgro we work from a clear purpose: making the world a better place based on our business model. At the same time, the program shows us where we can still take steps, such as implementing integrated personnel policy even more consistently and further aligning our governance with this purpose. In the coming years we will work on this to increase our impact. After all, being a B Corp is about continuous improvement.
The B Corp community
Milgro is now part of a global community of more than 109,000 B Corps. In the Benelux, the B Corp community consists of more than 500 companies from diverse sectors and of different sizes. Well-known names include Bugaboo, Rituals, Hak, Ace & Tate, Auping, TooGoodToGo, Tony's Chocolonely, Triodos Bank and Swapfiets.
Tessa van Soest, director of B Lab Benelux: "It is incredibly inspiring to welcome Milgro to the B Corp community. Their choice to do things differently within business will encourage others and help spread the idea that success in business is not only about profit, but equally about people and the environment."
