During the MVO's New Year's event 2019 with the theme “Beyond the green bubble”, Piet Briët (Royal FloraHolland) and Christian de Vries (Milgro) presented how enterprising Netherlands can find the right path to the circular economy. From all kinds of “container concepts” to concrete things such as: insight, willingness, ability and action.
Concrete steps towards the circular economy
In order for the Netherlands to reach the tipping point towards the new economy in 2025, we need to work on our ambitions in the field of sustainability. MVO Nederland (now FutureUp!) showed how the de nieuwe businessagenda fulfills this.
Profitable sustainability
During their session, Royal FloraHolland and Milgro clarified the benefits of profitable sustainability. Without profitable sustainability, we choose solutions for the short term. Only initiatives that are sustainable in an ecological and economic sense have a chance of success in the long term.
Milgro's solution meets this double requirement. Waste flows become visible and controllable through Milgro's “digital household book” for the use and consumption of raw materials. From “out of sight”, to “insight”. In this way, entrepreneurs limit their waste and save costs.
The presentation was positively received by the full audience. Various entrepreneurs saw immediate benefits in Milgro's pragmatic and result-oriented approach. Because if profitable sustainability is possible on the scale of the global company Royal FloraHolland, then it offers opportunities everywhere!
