Sustainable Processing in the Event of an Unexpected Recall of Canned Pet Food

As a pet food supplier, quality is our top priority. It is therefore more than frustrating when it turns out that a significant batch of pet food did not meet the usual standards. Together with Milgro, we sought a sustainable way to process the waste stream, since it proved impossible to adjust the product to the desired specifications.

Sustainable processing of products can be a challenge. Only a few companies in the Netherlands specialize in processing large quantities of canned pet food. Milgro has a large network of partners with diverse areas of expertise.

We approached a certified company to process the pet food. The packaging (cans) was first separated from the food; this was the first challenge. The cans underwent a recycling process. In addition, the pet food was processed responsibly, ensuring efficient handling.

Risk Prevention

When processing products, it is important to do so responsibly to prevent risks. This also applies to animal by-products, where health and environmental risks play a role.
