Read moreWaste is material or a product that no longer has a function for its original user. Yet waste is rarely truly worthless. Many wastes still contain valuable raw materials that can be reused. The better we separate waste, the more of it we can recover. And the less residual waste remains.
Most residual waste is burned. That costs money and produces CO2 emissions. By separating waste and managing it more intelligently, you save on costs and reduce your environmental impact. Moreover, you contribute to the circular economy: a system in which raw materials stay in the chain for as long as possible.
Waste streams are categories into which waste is categorized by type and origin. Think of paper, wood, plastic or hazardous waste. In total, the government distinguishes 24 streams. Companies are required to collect these streams separately wherever possible. This creates an overview and streams can be reused or processed in a targeted manner.
