On March 8, the municipality of Schiedam organized Circular! and PulsUp an in-depth meeting on the Circular Economy: “Inspiration café: Useful Circular Economy in the Schiedam practice”. It was a successful meeting with 45 participants in the ONS-Pand in Schiedam. Laurens Groen was present on behalf of Milgro to explain the importance of control over residual flows.

Alderman Marcel Houtkamp welcomed the guests with an inspiring story about the development of sustainability in general and in Schiedam in particular. Subsequently, Douwe Jan Joustra from Nederland Circular! an introduction to the basics of the circular economy. Based on examples, Freek van Eijk of the Netherlands Circular! see what opportunities there are for sharing raw materials, switching to services, waste as a raw material, using sustainable energy generation on flat roofs and revitalizing vacant buildings. Jan Jongert of Pulsup explained how more can be done with residual flows.

Laurens Groen, founder and CEO of Milgro explained how you can gain insight into material flows and what opportunities this offers. With Milgro's automated system, the material flows in a company can be followed and the use and loss of material becomes transparent per step in the process. By collecting data, the residual flow is predictable based on the planned production. Or as Groen put it: “Waste is a raw material that has lost its way. We make the way transparent by means of data, so that people can steer towards less waste and high-quality recycling. ”
